The Train

Hitachi red train speeding through Japanese countryside with motion blur and yellow wireframe HUD overlay

A Monument of National Identity

The Hitachi-made old trains in Japan played an important role in creating the highly efficient rail transport in Japan and aiding urban growth after the war period. These trains made by Hitachi emphasize efficiency and reliability, playing a key role in making Japanese transport systems known to be punctual. Apart from their importance in terms of technological development, they also have cultural value as railway enthusiasts cherish their unique design and are keen on preserving or repurposing them.

WHY I CHOSE THIS ART STYLE

When I first saw a picture of one of these Hitachi trains, I was facinated, how could something so simple be a part of something so big?

Seeing it's contemporary beauty and engineering, I decided to colour grade and edit the image, adding modern graphics and blending it in with that of the aged aesthetic of the train.

The Nissan Skyline

The Nissan Skyline

The Japanese masterpiece defining the street racing scene

This is the Nissan Skyline R34, a car so legendary it doesn't need an introduction. But for those that need reminders of how much of an engineering marvel this car truly is, here you go.

There is not a single part of this car that isn't iconic, featuring in "2 Fast 2 Furious" — bridging the gap between the street racing scene and mainstream action. It is highly revered as one of the most iconic race cars to this day.

WHY I CHOSE THIS ART-STYLE

The Nissan Skyline always seemed to me as a bold, rugged car, one with no soft edges or blurred lines, so I decided to put my perception of the car as a theme for the poster.

I aimed for monochrome, noisy photos full of life that can truly embody the car's nature, making it seem almost as if the car is still moving in some way, despite the picture being still.

Jujitsu Kaisen:
Yuta Okkotsu

Yuta Okkotsu full editorial poster — magenta and black manga panels, chevron motifs, Japanese kanji, True Love's Curse

Yuta Okkotsu is the main character of Jujitsu Kaisen 0 and a supporting character of Jujitsu Kaisen.

His story comes from his childhood, befriending someone named Rika, who then promised to marry each other, and commemorated it with a ring. Unfortunately, that was the last Yuta would see of her, as she was involved in a car crash that ended her life.

Overcome with an unfathomable amount of grief, Yuta somehow manifested the pure love and grief she had for her after her death into a curse — one that manifested as a monster built from curse energy called a shikigami.

The strength of Yuta's shikigami is built only on love, with that love being so strong that it makes the shikigami's strength rival that of some of the strongest in the world.

Additionally, having joined jujitsu society, he was known for being a prodigy, completing most of its syllabus in one year, and has the largest cursed energy output in Modern Jujitsu Kaisen history, bested only by Ryomen Sukuna himself.
